Sheet Metal Bending Operation Planning Using

چکیده
A large number of manufacturing operation planning problems can be formulated as state space search problems In case of sheet metal bending operation planning processing a search node involves extensive geometric reasoning Such computation intensive node processing limits the number of search nodes that can be expanded in a reasonable amount of time making it di cult to solve real life operation planning problems In this paper we describe a scheme to speed up operation planning by virtual gen eration of state space nodes In this scheme we eliminate unnecessary computation at the time of node generation by extracting the required information from already generated nodes Although generation of two di erent search nodes rarely involves identical computation steps there is considerable overlap in node generation steps We have divided the node generation step into a number of computation subproblems When we need to generate a new node we rst try to see if any of the node gener ation subproblems have been solved for any of the already generated nodes If any subproblem has already been solved for some other node then we use the solution of that subproblem to save computation time In such cases we do not perform node generation computation steps and therefore we call such node generation virtual The scheme presented in this paper increases the node generation capability and allows us to consider many more search nodes The ability to consider more search nodes helps us in solving more complex problems and nding better operation plans

Evolutionary Path Planning for Robot Assisted Part Handling in Sheet Metal Bending
While the bending sequence planning has been intensively studied, design of the motion path of a sheet metal part in the bending operation tends to be ignored by researchers. Because during the bending operation, the space for maneuvering a sheet metal part is very small, collisions between the part and bending tools are likely to occur. When a robot is used to handle the part, the role of an a...
متن کاملSheet Metal Bending : Generating Shared Setups
Contemporary process planners for sheet metal bending solve the process planning problem for individual parts. Quite often, many di erent parts can be produced on shared setups. However, plans generated by current process planning systems fail to exploit this commonality between setups and try to generate optimal setups for individual parts. In this paper, we present an algorithm for multi-part...
متن کاملConstraint-based process planning in sheet metal bending
The majority of research dealing with computer-aided process planning of sheet metal bending approaches this problem as heuristic search. Since relevant engineering knowledge mostly consists of declarations that prohibit collisions and just a handful of generative rules, there are no useful means to drive these heuristics. In order to find a new way, we have made experiments with a constraint-b...
متن کاملAutomated Tool Selection for Computer-Aided Process Planning in Sheet Metal Bending
Bend sequencing and tool selection have long been the main hurdles for achieving automatic process planning for sheet metal bending. In this unique process, the complex shape and position transitions of workpieces make it hard to obtain a collision-free operation plan. The time-consuming involvement of human experts is often required to solve more complex problems. This paper presents a tool se...

In this paper, we describe a generative process planning system for robotic sheet metal bending press-brakes. This process planning system employs a distributed planning architecture. Currently, our system consists of a central operation planner and three specialized domain speci c planners: tooling, grasping, and moving. The central operation planner proposes various alternative partial sequen...
